Better measurement and provision of mental healthcare

12th September 2016

Better measurement and provision of mental healthcare is the first Cambridge Health Network event after the summer break.

February saw a new report from the independent Mental Health Taskforce to the NHS in England, sparking a new era for mental health provision. This event will examine the emerging models of care for mental health and the further changes needed to achieve an increase in quality of care.

One important barrier is that consistent and reliable mental health data lags behind other areas. Understanding how quickly people are able to access services, what sort of care they are receiving and what outcomes they are experiencing is vital. We will be asking, how can we use better data to faster enable change in mental health? What other key factors are needed to enable change?

Our speakers for this event will be:

  • Paul Farmer, CEO of Mind & Chair of the Mental Health Taskforce
  • Geraldine Strathdee, National Clinical Director for Mental Health
  • Stuart Bell, Chief Executive, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
