Fighting anti–microbial resistance – insights from the UK and US
Fighting anti–microbial resistance – insights from the UK and UK, sponsored by HCA Healthcare UK.
Our panel members are:
- Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer for England
- Dr Jon Perlin, CMO & President, Clinical Services, HCA
- Professor Richard Platt, Chair, Harvard Medical School Department of Population Medicine
In May this year, the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance, chaired by Lord Jim O’Neill, released it’s final report. This concluded that without policies to stop the worrying spread of anti-microbial resistance (AMR) it would cause 10 million deaths per year globally by 2050.
This timely event will examine three perspectives. Firstly, the challenges of fighting AMR in the UK, led by Dame Sally Davies. Next, the rigorous academic approach needed to deliver meaningful improvements in antibiotic prescribing and husbandry, delivered by Professor Richard Platt from Harvard Medical School. Finally, we will welcome back Dr Jon Perlin to give us fascinating insights from the US about driving clinical change in hospital settings to materially impact antibiotic use.
