Digitising the patient experience: patient portals in NHS hospitals webinar

Chair Pam Garside commenced the session with a poll of attendees, asking “Do you think we will sustain this level of digital acceleration in the next few years?” 76% said yes, 35% said yes, significantly.
Matthew Gould, CEO of NHSX, then gave an overview on the digital transformation in the NHS driven by COVID-19, talking about what’s worked and how things might develop in future.
Next up, Joe Harrison, CEO of Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS FT spoke about the benefits the MyCare patient portal had brought to the patient experience.
Lisa Emery, Chief Information Officer, The Royal Marsden NHS Trust, gave insights on how COVID-19 has advanced the digital agenda for patients.
Glenn Winteringham, Group Chief Digital Officer at the Royal Free FT, shared his thoughts on how their planned patient portal will help the Royal Free manage the outpatient backlog in the next few months.
Christine Walters, Chief Information Officer, St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals NHS Trust gave insight on how a patient portal can help her trust better communicate and engage with patients.
Finally, Lloyd Price, Co-Founder of Zesty, shared some thoughts on how patient portals might evolve in the next 2 years.
A poll at the end of the Q&A session saw the audience split 50/50 on their opinion of whether the current level of digital acceleration will be maintained in the next few years.
