Mergers in the NHS

16th February 2016

Sponsored by Aldwych Partners

This CHNi event will focus on how the Competition & Markets Authority assesses the competition impact of NHS mergers, and how Monitor assesses the benefits to patients and commissioners arising from a merger.

The event will be led by Andrew Taylor and Nick Warren, partners at Aldwych Partners, and lead advisers to Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS FT and Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS FT during their CMA merger review. They will be joined by Bob Peet, Chief Operating Officer at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS FT, who will be able to share his perspective on the CMA review process from the trust side.

By the end of the event, participants will:-

*Be familiar with CMA and Monitor processes
*Have the ability to make informed judgements about whether an NHS merger is likely to raise competition issues
*Understand the potential for mitigating the risk of an adverse CMA decision
*Know how to make a successful patient benefits case to Monitor

As with all CHNi events, space is extremely limited.
