New Takes on Regulation
Article
We had a fantastic event this week with Sam Roberts and Lawrence Tallon interviewing each other on stage. It was a fun and engaging approach and raised a number of questions/challenges about the future of regulation within and between the differing roles of NICE and the MHRA. Specifically:
- the overall challenge is how best to adapt regulatory approval processes to cover new products, be they medicines, medical devices, or emerging AI based solutions while ensuring that regulation is iterative, rapid and proportionate .
- how to move at reasonable and careful speed with regulatory processes balanced with the need to keep pace with developing technologies – how to embed best practice care pathways into every day care
- how to consider cost effectiveness of all areas of health care spend – not just medicines and medical products
It was a wide ranging and stimulating discussion and we have a few photos of just of the two of them (and Hamza’s outfit but we don’t want that in there!)
Thank you to Deloitte for kindly hosting this event.
